Are you or your kids looking for something fun to do? Fresh out of cool ideas? Do you want a mental and physical challenge? Try a high ropes course. This unusual but addictive activity is an adventure kids of all ages will enjoy.
High in the trees, aerial trails zigzag through the branches allowing adventuresome families a unique way to experience nature.
It all begins when you arrive at the base of the course. A guide fits each member of the treetop team with a climbing harness and gloves. He will explain how to use the equipment, demonstrating how you are clipped to ropes at all times. The gear is heavy duty with many safety features built in. You’ll then be on your way, but don’t worry, you don’t have to be Tarzan to have a swinging time. The parks typically have different trails with varying degrees of difficulty. Like a ski hill, trails are color coded indicating difficulty - from beginner to expert.
While each park is configured differently, they all consist of platforms bridged together with cable, wood, and rope. You could be climbing on thin ropes, holding onto another small rope, wobbling your way to a 5’ platform. Or perhaps you have to carefully navigate round logs as you climb higher and higher into the canopy. Then there’s getting down, an adventure in itself! You hook yourself onto a zipline and feel an adrenaline rush. Go ahead, imagine you are a flying bird as you breeze through tree tops finally touching down softly on the next platform. Your heart will beat with joy as you accomplish each challenge and work your way through the forest.
Ropes courses are fun, exciting, safe, and challenging leaving each climber with a sense of accomplishment. It’s an activity your whole family will love.
